The ACVECC Board of Regents strongly believes that Black lives matter and that racism should not be tolerated. We want our colleagues, our staff, our clients, and our friends to always feel safe in their communities. We want them to have equal job opportunities, to have access to the best medical care for themselves and their pets, and to be free from harassment and discrimination.

The cycles of inequality and violence have gone on for far too long. This is the moment for all of us to commit to finding ways we can be allies in creating positive change. We affirm ACVECC’s full support of the AVMA’s policy on diversity and inclusion and are committed to leading a specialty college that is welcoming and supportive of all its members and affiliates.

This discussion involves the profession as a whole in addition to individual specialties and areas of practice. The following video discusses discrimination in veterinary medicine:

Creating change, however, is more than making public statements. We are also committed to engaging in a deeper conversation about increasing our college’s diversity, better serving and supporting all our members, and making sure our staff and clients are treated fairly and equally.
