2008 IVECCS "Resident Focus" Program
Resident Focus
IVECCS 2008
Thursday 9/18, Friday 9/19, Saturday 9/20 and Sunday 9/21
7:00 – 7:50 AM
Phoenix, AZ
For IVECCS 2008 we are offering a relatively new and hopefully improved program for residents and our newer diplomates entitled "Resident Focus" which is scheduled for Thursday 9/18, Friday 9/19, Saturday 9/20 and Sunday 9/21 from 7:00 – 7:50 AM. In years past we had two sessions targeted for residents and new diplomates entitled Resident Focus which was in the early evening and Resident Level Board Review which was on Sunday morning or the last day of the Symposium. For this year we have combined the sessions into the “Resident Focus” and are having presentations daily as noted above (2 presentations per day 25 minutes in length). We already have 3 presentations scheduled by recent diplomates in both ACVECC and ACVA and are looking for a few more residents form either discipline to round out the program. It is envisioned that these will be presentations from stellar residents to residents at a resident level. Since there are only 3-5 slots remaining we are looking for the "best" possible submissions. You are being notified of this program as a resident program coordinator or resident. Should you have any residents, or be a resident, far enough along in their/your training that might be interested in this program, please let them know about the program and ask if they might be interested in making a presentation. As we said we only have room for 3-5 presentations and are looking for appropriate subject matter and content for ACVECC and ACVA residents or diplomates. The presentations, computer generated expected, can be on any subject but at a resident/diplomate level. We hope to get a good response to this program.
For you, the mentors, we hope that you will not only recommend the very best residents to speak, but also ask that you be directly involved in the preparation of the presentations to insure resident success and guarantee not only excellent results but a rewarding and enriching experience for the residents.
Residents chosen to present are reminded they must register for the meeting and that registration is not complimentary. However, an honorarium will be provided for each oral presentation selected.
DEADLINE for submission of a summary of the proposed presentation topic is July 15, 2008.
The authors of all presentations that are selected for presentation will be notified by July 30, 2008. The selected presentation summaries may be published in the Proceedings for the Meeting. Handouts, or handout copies of the Powerpoint presentations, should be made available for distribution at the actual presentation session for all attendees (approximately 40 – 50 people).
Thanks in advance for your help in implementing this program for our residents. Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
