Applications are invited for the above position that is available immediately and will be offered at either the Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor level (depending on experience and expertise). The appointee will become the academic leader in the area of small animal emergency medicine and critical care (EMCC) and will be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research projects. The emergency service team comprises 10 full-time Veterinarians (clinical instructors and residents-in-training), 10 full-time Veterinary Nurses and additional casual staff. Involvement in professional activities, administration and continuing education and a contribution to the provision of clinical services in EMCC will be expected. Training residents for success in specialist level examinations in EMCC is a central part of the duties of this staff member.
Applicants must possess a veterinary degree registrable in Western Australia and a postgraduate professional qualifi cation in EMCC enabling specialist registration in Western Australia (Diplomate ACVECC or equivalent). Experience in research (PhD or progress towards a research qualifi cation) and in teaching EMCC at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be advantageous.

The Auburn University Critical Care Service is a 24 hour same-day referral center designed to serve the needs of veterinarians in the Southeast. The Intensive Care Unit is fully staffed 24/7 by a staff of 17 full time veterinary technicians. A STAT lab is available for hematology, chemistries, blood gases, electrolytes, blood lactate, and coagulation profiles. Monitoring capabilities include telimetry, pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2, direct and indirect blood pressure, urine output, and central venous pressure monitoring. Recent acquisitions include continuous renal replacement therapy and thromboelastography. Intensive patient management is encouraged and expected.

The Animal Surgical & Emergency Center in Los Angeles needs another criticalist, to staff the ICU of our rapidly-growing emergency & critical care practice.
ASEC is a 100% referral practice, with 23 DVMs, including board certified specialists in surgery, radiology, internal medicine, cardiology, and emergency/critical care. Our Department of Surgery handles a full spectrum of orthopedic, soft tissue and neurosurgical cases presented. The Department of Emergency & Critical Care is a full-service 24-hour emergency and critical care referral center, the busiest in Los Angeles. The Angell Animal Medical Center (AAMC) in Boston, MA is seeking applicants for a staff position in emergency and critical care medicine. The AAMC opened its doors in 1915 and is one of the most acclaimed veterinary practices in the country, caring for approximately 45,000 animals a year. Angell is part of the MSPCA, one of the oldest and most respected humane organizations in the world.
WHO WE ARE
The AAMC serves Boston and the greater New England area as a primary care facility, a 24- hour emergency hospital, and as a tertiary referral center. The veterinary staff is composed of 40 senior staff, 15 interns, and 21 residents. The senior staff includes specialists in the areas of avian and exotic medicine, cardiology and cardiac surgery, dentistry, dermatology, emergency and critical care medicine, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, nutrition, oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, radiology, and surgery. The hospital contains a state-of-the-art critical care unit, a well-stocked blood bank, multiple specialty rooms, 6 surgical suites, an intermediate care ward, and numerous general care and isolation wards. Angell’s Diagnostic Imaging Center has onsite MRI, CT, and fluoroscopy in addition to traditional radiographs.
With the completion of the new Helen Schmidt Stanton Clinical Care Center, the AAMC has increased its size by nearly 25,000 square feet. The Clinical Care Center contains 22 exam rooms with direct access to centralized treatment areas and a new Emergency Care Center with five dedicated exam rooms.
Our current emergency and critical care staff is comprised of 3 ACVECC board-certified doctors, a board eligible staff doctor, 8 residents and four dedicated specialty technicians.
POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a board certified emergency/critical care doctor. The qualified individual will be responsible for receiving patients through a busy emergency service and managing critical patients in the CCU on a rotating basis with the other senior staff. Additionally, the individual will participate in mentoring and training of residents and interns, providing consultations to the Angell veterinary staff and acting as a resource to our referral community.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must demonstrate aptitude for multi-tasking and working successfully in a team environment. Our Critical Care department consists of two boarded ECC doctors and one rotating intern. Criticalists assist with emergency receiving and oversee the emergency staff. They also have primary case responsibility and offer consultation on other in-house specialty cases. The Critical Care department is supported by certified technicians with advanced training in emergency and critical care, who provide around the clock care for each patient.
The dedicated intermediate and critical care units contain heated nebulized oxygen cages, standard oxygen cages, heated cages, runs, and house approximately 40 patients. They

There is an emphasis placed on ensuring all members of the team have an excellent quality of life and the position is sustainable. The Equine ICU is a modern, fully-equipped and staffed facility. Sponsored research is not required for clinical track faculty, but collaborative clinical research, publications and other scholarly activities to advance clinical veterinary medicine are expected and encouraged. The successful candidate will share supervision of a full service, 24-hour, 25-cage intensive care unit, as well as a busy 24/7 emergency receiving service. The ICU is staffed 24 hours x 7 days with licensed veterinary technicians (several with VTS E/CC certification) with a mission for excellence in patient care. The ICU is currently managed in an open style with all specialty services providing primary patient care of the patients in the unit. Interns and residents staff night and weekend emergency shifts.
Teaching responsibilities will include didactic lectures, laboratories, and clinical teaching of students, interns, residents, and graduate students. It is anticipated the appointee will interact closely with the faculty and programs in all small animal clinical disciplines and the large animal E/CC program. Faculty are also expected to be involved in professional and community outreach, continuing education, committee service, and curriculum development.
Clinical-track candidates will be assigned up to 75% time in clinics, including patient management, client service, clinical teaching of students and advanced training of interns and residents. Sponsored research is not required for clinical-track faculty, but clinical research, publications or other scholarly activities to advance clinical veterinary medicine are expected and encouraged. Tenure-track candidates will be given 50-75% off-clinic time to meet expectations for developing an extramurally funded research program that relates to E/CC medicine and that includes collaboration with other scientists, advising of graduate student research, and publication in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates with emerging or established research programs can expect to be supported with competitive research start-up packages.

Veterinary Referral Center, Malvern, PA is a 23,000 square foot specialty referral facility located near the historic suburbs of Philadelphia. We have extensive diagnostic, therapeutic and monitoring capabilities, and utilize the best equipment available. Our equipment includes a complete laboratory (CBC/Chemistry/Criticare Express-Nova/SCA2000/Colloid Osmometer), monitoring (ETCO2/pulse ox/NIBP/Invasive BP), color flow Doppler ultrasound, mobile C-arm fluoroscopy, and complete endoscopy capabilities.

Small Animal Critical Care Specialist
The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences of the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time clinical track faculty in small animal critical care. The position is at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level depending on qualifications and experience. This position will be available as of January 1, 2009. The successful candidate will have expertise in small animal critical care and emergency medicine. Requirements for the applicant include the DVM/ or equivalent degree, completion of a formal residency in critical care/emergency medicine, and board certification or board eligibility in the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
The missions of the Department are to educate veterinary students and graduate veterinarians to meet the needs of the pet-owning public, to provide advanced patient care, and to generate new knowledge in pet health by basic and applied research. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to these departmental efforts by participation in the teaching, service, and research programs of the College. Responsibilities will include clinical, didactic and laboratory teaching of small animal critical care to professional students, interns, and residents; presentations of continuing education at the local and national levels; and contribution to the clinical research program.
The University of Tennessee Small Animal Hospital is a comprehensive and completely equipped with facility with the expertise needed to provide advanced medical care and to support research programs.
